During a conversation with friends about Starbucks’ plan to close all La Boulange stores, we started thinking about where to find the best macarons in San Francisco. After one thing led to another, we decided to gather macarons from the best bakeries in San Francisco and have a tasting competition in addition to celebrating our friend’s birthday!
Surprise Gift
Not to be outdone by my surprise trip to Chicago gift, my boyfriend Ke gathered a group of our friends (including fellow buddies with June birthdays!) and surprised me with a trip to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Unlike the one day notice I gave him, Ke gave me adequate time to get bikini ready and to give vacation notice to my new job. He booked an incredible home on VRBO that also included the loveliest chef and maid I have ever met.
Today my Great Grandmother passed away. Surreal is the only way I can describe my current feelings. One minute, a wave of grief overcomes me as I realize I’ll never speak to her again. Then in the next moment, the sadness subsides as I remember the sweet times we shared, or a funny thing she once said.
I know this is a long overdo post but I finally was able to write about my trip to New York City for NYE! I was surprised with this trip on Christmas by my boyfriend!! I had been to New York once as a teenager with my business club, but this time around I was excited to hang out with some friends and get to experience the side of the city that tourists didn’t see.
After a year in San Francisco, I finally got a chance to go to Napa for the weekend. It was a great trip with my boyfriend Ke during the winter holiday season. We drove up on a rainy, wet weekend, which in my opinion was the perfect time to go. Napa was scenic, beautiful, and overall quiet and fairly empty. Each winery was filled with only a handful of visitors, which made it all the more enjoyable.
About a year ago I decided to move to San Francisco. My senior year of college was winding down and looking back on it, I feel that time in my life was incredibly insignificant but fundamental at the same time. It was the period in my life where I thought knew everything without realizing I knew nothing at all.
I grew up believing I didn’t have much opportunity in life. I was always well taken care of, but as a child I always felt my dreams and goals were out of my reach.
I moved around a lot when I was young, at least once a year until I reached college. I attended six elementary schools, one middle school, and two high schools. I lived in poor neighborhoods and I lived in wealthy neighborhoods. I attended such a wide variety of schools and lived in so many different neighborhoods that I had an incredible opportunity to meet people from all walks of life and different cultures.
